Technical Guidelines to Integrate Disaster Risk Management and Climate Adaptation in Designing Resilient Structures for the Local Government in the Philippines
- Develop technical handbook for local governments in the Philippines, which take into account disaster risk management and climate adaptation in designing resilient structures (buildings and infrastructure), and supplement the government’s efforts in preparedness for extreme events and climate change, through the enhancement of the design of built assets capable of withstanding the increasing impacts of extreme hazards under changing climate;
- Establish risk-based methodology to provide design technical handbook to ensure resilient structure developed for local government;
- Support LGUs by taking into account disaster risk management and climate adaptation for the design of resilient structures (buildings and infrastructure), in addition to the minimal safety and service requirements of the National Structural Code of the Philippines, as well as other standards and technical guidelines;
- Building local government capacity for resilient structures, and advance the practices of resilient structure design in local governments that generate long-term benefits greater than the adaptation costs for the local communities;
- Provide an option of measurement on the aspect of enhancement in reconstruction performance for the Build Back Better (BBB) principle.
